Engage!10 The Breakers, Palm Beach
In October 2010, Engage! headed to iconic The Breakers Palm Beach. One of the pre-eminent hotels in the country, this circa-1926 Italianate masterpiece welcomed Engagees with Lilly Pulitzer-inspired raspberry and lime décor created especially for the event by The Breakers Design Team.
The event kicked off with an informal session from past Engage! attendees, telling newcomers how to get the most from the event, and the official welcome party was held outside at the Ocean View Pool.
The following day, a full day of sessions included Style Me Pretty founder Abby Larson sharing the personal history behind her transformative site, and a candid conversation between The Knot’s editor in chief Carley Roney and style-setting entrepreneurs Randy Fenoli and Ceci Johnson. Engage!10 also saw the main-stage debuts of three industry icons: David Beahm of David Beahm Design, celebrity wedding planner Mindy Weiss, and Bryan Rafanelli of Rafanelli Events, who shared the secret of how he got to do Chelsea Clinton’s wedding. (“I asked.”)
That evening, guests departed for small group dinners led by Engage! speakers at the many amazing restaurants found at The Breakers. Everyone gathered together for a lavish dessert party held on the front lawn. On the following day, editors shared how to get published, and small, intensive sessions included Todd Fiscus of Todd Events, who shared how he overhauled his business model to bring more happiness into his life.
The night’s Finale Gala was a wow from the start. At the entrance, crystal champagne glasses hung from the ceiling by long white ribbons, snipped off one by one by a bride and groom on stilts. The lavish seated dinner featured personal raw bars served on individual lighted ice sculptures, and individual ice cream sundae bars — all worked off on the spirited dance floor, led by a band and specialty entertainers from Elan Artists.
