Engage!09 The Encore at Wynn, Las Vegas
It only made sense that Engage! set it sights in America’s wedding capital for their fourth event, termed a “a luxury wedding business intensive” and held for one and a half days in October 2009. The setting was the gorgeous Encore Resort, part of the Wynn Las Vegas, the city’s premier luxury resort at the time. Things kicked off with a welcome party in the stunning atrium of the Encore Spa, setting a glamorous tone for the week.
The next day, speakers included Rebecca Grinnals giving her signature “Survey of the Wedding Industry” that kicks off each Engage!, along with the latest stats from The Knot, a rousing session with author Simon T. Bailey and creative inspiration from Marcy Blum. The afternoon ended with some intensive coaching by Sean Low in a session called “The Business of Being Creative” (a title he went on to use with his popular website), and a stunning showcase on style and decor from acclaimed interior designer Todd-Avery Lenahan, that year named “Designer of the Year” by leading industry pub Boutique Design.
The 100 guests enjoyed a lavish luncheon presented by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Bureau, as well as a gala farewell celebration held at Wynn’s BLUSH nightclub and kicked off with a first dance by official party hosts Sylvia Weinstock and Randy Fenoli. Friendships were created, business ideas were hatched, and everyone departed with the dates of the next two events in their calendars. Engage! was now the must-do for the luxury wedding industry, and things would never be the same for Rebecca and Kathryn, or the many people who call them friends.
