Mary Lee Herrington is the principal attorney at MLH Legal Consultancy P.C., based in New York. Previously the founder of an event planning company that specialized in weddings in the United Kingdom and France, Mary brings her expertise in event production and running a small business when advising creative entrepreneurs on legal issues, including commercial contract drafting and review, business formation, licensing and copyrights, freelancer agreements, defamation issues, non-competes and confidentiality.

Previously, Mary worked as a corporate attorney at Norton Rose Fulbright, a multi-national law firm, and at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton, Garrison, a white-shoe firm headquartered in New York.  Her career as an attorney and entrepreneur has taken her on many intercontinental adventures, from board rooms in England and Greece to styling wedding reception tables in France, until finally bringing her back to New York, where she brought her two professional worlds together: weddings and the law.  With an extensive roster of clients including successful and notable event planners, photographers, graphic designers, floral design and event production companies, and talent agencies, Mary’s unique expertise draws on her experience and thorough understanding of wedding vendors’ businesses, the demands of wedding clients, and the pressure cooker of the wedding day.

Mary holds a B.A. in English from Columbia University and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.  She resides in Brooklyn with her husband Duncan, daughter Margot, son Lee, and three demanding pets.
